FIRE SAFETY PARAMOUNT NOW WINTER APPROACHING
Thursday, 09 June 2016 10:40
With winter now upon us, the CFS and MFS are warning residents about the risk of house fires. Over the past two years, crews have responded to 516 house fires across South Australia related to winter heating and maintenance issues. Statistics show that around half of all home fires start in the kitchen. 43 per cent of all fire fatalities happen in winter time, and MFS Commander of Community Safety Greg Howard warns that furniture, bedding and washing should be kept at least 2 meters away from heaters and open fires, adding that to reduce the risk of fire and surviving a house fire, is to be prepared, keep maintenance up and use home heating equipment correctly.

DEFIBRILLATOR PURCHASE POSSIBLE THANKS TO GENEROUS GOLFERS
Thursday, 09 June 2016 10:39
The Tatiara CFS Command Car is now decked out with its own defibrillator, thanks to a generous donation from the South East Farmers Golf Day. This means that now all three CFS Command cars have been kitted out with defibrillators, and CFS members are very grateful for the donation. The South East Farmers Golf Day saw over 35 teams entered in the Ambrose Tournament fundraiser this year and Rodger Gloede, Wes Henderson, Barry Turnbull and Graham Pilgrim, all from Bordertown, took out the trophy for the day on 66.
