KANIVA PUB RENO’S HONOURING ORIGINAL LOOK
Tuesday, 19 July 2016 10:29
Kaniva’s Commercial Hotel is undergoing a restoration and revamp of its original features, thanks to new owners who’ve made the move from Melbourne. Zack Robinson and Stuart Hicks bought the historic pub late last year, and have been doing daily reno’s for the past six months. They want to turn it back into what it would have looked like originally, and say they want their old-style pub to be very welcoming. The hotel was built in 1927 and they’ve retained its pressed tin ceilings, large windows and stained-glass skylight, finding many original fixtures and fittings discarded out the back. Zach and Stuart say that meals will start soon, once they’ve found a chef.

SHELTER SHED FUNDING ON TRACK FOR KARTING ENTHUSIASTS
Tuesday, 19 July 2016 10:28
The Tatiara Karting Club is a step closer to sufficient funding to erect a grid shelter shed, thanks to a grant from Council to the tune of $9,600 from the Community Grants Program. That’ll cover a quarter of the total cost, with the club hopeful of securing further grant monies. Karting Club President Barry Butler said the shelter would be invaluable in the summer months, providing shade and shelter, bringing Tatiara into line with facilities at other clubs. Barry added that it’ll be a real asset when they host the National Titles in a few years time.
