| Border Districts Football Club was recently invited to choose one of it’s up and coming young players – young as in someone aged 13 or 14 – to travel to Adelaide to attend a special training day clinic with the Adelaide Crows. Darcy McKenny was the talented young player that was chosen, and he and others had a great day learning some new tricks and gaining lots of knowledge, and not just about playing techniques. Crows Development Coach Tate Kaesler said that a big focus of the clinic is to give the boys real insight in to the hard work, sacrifice and dedication that’s needed to make it in the AFL. The importance of attitude and having a balanced life, and being both happy in football and in life was one of the take home messages. A particular highlight of the day was spending one-on-one time with ‘country boy’ and Crows ruckman, Sam Jacobs. |
