LIFE MEMBERSHIP FOR LADIES PROBUS CLUB’S HAZEL HACK

Naracoorte local Hazel Hack has become a Life Member of the Naracoorte Ladies Probus Club, in a ceremony that also marked the club’s 29th birthday. Mrs Hack has been the club’s president, vice-president, assistant treasurer, club historian, care and concern officer and committee member over many years now, and said she was surprised and thrilled to be recognised. She added that she’d made many life-long friends during her years with Probus, and has very fond memories of the many and varied events over the years. Mrs Hack is also a member of the Naracoorte Senior Citizens and is involved with the local Anglican Church Guild.
 
COMPETITION WINNERS ANNOUNCED

Local writers were recently encouraged to compose stories about a Tatiara street or road name, telling a story about the family it was named after, as part of activities that marked this year’s Tatiara History Week. Pat Matthews won the annual competition, for her story on Handyside Drive. Pat chose to write about Andrew Dods Handyside, and his many accomplishments; because he once owned the property that she and her husband now live on. Pat said she was delighted and surprised to have won the award, and added that through the competition, she has been able to write and research the history of their property, Crecoona, and has found this very rewarding. Nikki Ballinger won the primary section of the competition, with Clare Langley picking up the award in the senior section. Community members are welcome to read this years entries at the Bordertown Public Library.
