| After the damning reports from NSW around greyhound racing, Greyhound Racing Victoria chairman Bernie Carolan said that Premier Baird’s decision to ban the sport in NSW from 2017 will put pressure on greyhound racing in other states. Horsham Greyhound Racing Club member Peter Carter said it’s a drastic decision. Peter added that the majority of trainers and breeders get extremely attached to their dogs, treating them as pets, and said that the industry in Victoria is very far ahead in terms of animal welfare and has very high ethics. Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews said that the government had no plans to ban racing in Victoria. |
