WIMMERA CANCER CENTRE FUND WELCOMES RECENT DONATION

The proposed Wimmera Cancer Centre is $50,000 dollars closer to becoming a reality after a donation from Rural Northwest Health. A community fundraising campaign named ‘Rachael’s Wish’ has raised a staggering $941,190 for the centre, and Wimmera Health Care Group chief Chris Scott said the project was very close to raising the $1million dollar community contribution that is required. Funding is coming from a range of sources, and although it will be based in Horsham, the Wimmera Cancer Centre will benefit the wider region.
 
DEMAND FOR LOCAL HOT SAUCE HEATS UP FOR ROBE FAMILY

The Davidson family from Robe have returned to Australia after 20 years living in America, and one thing they missed most was their favourite hot sauce. After importing hot sauce straight from Mexico, and going through large quantities of it, they decided to make their own. They set up their own business producing ‘Cantina Kick’, and their hand-made hot sauce is heating up the Limestone Coast. After starting out making 8 bottles per week, growing demand has seen them producing 30 bottles a week by hand, which they wholesale to local establishments. Starting in mum’s commercial kitchen, the family experimented with garlic and chilli and spices, until they invented a combination and intensity of heat they were happy with. Sounds like just the thing to warm us up in this wintry weather – well done to the Davidsons!
