WIMMERA RIVER FLOWING
Wednesday, 20 July 2016 13:24
Still on the subject of water, and the difference between too much and not enough, for the first time in four years, the Wimmera River is flowing toward Dimboola. Above average rainfall this season has seen water pass through the Horsham Weir, and its great news for the smaller communities along the river, with around 30 mega litres per day flowing through. If the region sustains average winter and spring rainfalls, it’s believed the river will continue to flow, and that’ll also increase the distribution of fish and biodiversity, in areas that have been dry for years.

COUGARS IN TALKS TO CHANGE LEAGUE
Wednesday, 20 July 2016 13:22

Kaniva/Leeor United Football club is considering its future in the KNTFL, and could be looking at joining with either the Horsham or Wimmera Football league. At a meeting on Monday night, the club’s future was laid on the table, with the Cougar’s President Jason Gordon saying the club had outgrown its current league, and should be able to play against clubs that are of a similar size. He added that the KNTFL’s current salary cap and recruiting rules also concerned the club. Interesting times for the club, as this development comes on the back of the recent sacking of A grade coach Colin Macaffer last week.
