VISITORS FROM CHINA LOVING THE LIMECOAST COAST

The emerging tourism market from China was on the agenda at a recent workshop in Naracoorte. 25 local participants comprising of a range of tourism operators and businesses, gathered to hear about the strategic importance of attracting Chinese visitors. It’s forecasted that by 2020, 57,000 Chinese tourists will visit South Australia annually, and presently Chinese visitor numbers to the Limestone Coast are rapidly increasing. The workshop was a collaboration between the South Australian Tourism Commission and the Limestone Coast Local Government Association.
 
NARACOORTE LUCINDALE COUNCIL - FOCUS ON THE ARTS

The arts movement in Naracoorte and Lucindale has been in focus for the District Council, who has engaged the services of Community Arts Worker Maz McGann. Ms McGann will lead further community consultation and engagement, to develop a new framework for the arts. Initial community consultation has indicated that local history; township identity and streetscapes, natural landscapes, resources and agriculture are important areas of interest to locals, and they want to see these portrayed artistically within the region. Council was successful in securing a ‘Step Up’ grant to pay for the consultation.
